Samsung Vibrant GPS
The Samsung Vibrant is the T-Mobile USA version of the Samsung Galaxy S. It’s rockin’ a 4 inch Super AmoLED screen, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and a crazy 16gb of space for some sweet apps and games.
Also on board you’ll find a 5.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus and zoom. You can also capture 720p video. Unfortunately, there’s no led flash but that doesn’t take away from the awesome quality that the camera provides.
But, Many users at Samsung Vibrant reported that GPS on the device is broken out of the box. It takes a while to lock the GPS signal plus if it does some time, the position shown is not accurate. Originally the solution appeared at XDA-Developers and don’t worry it does not require any serious changes to your phone’s software!
While Samsung is still working on a fix for the GPS issues with the phone, we present stepwise instructions below so that you have all the good GPS.
How to fix Samsung Vibrant GPS issue:
To fix your Samsung Vibrant’s GPS functionality just follow the following steps (I hear it works on other Galaxy S phones as well, but I can’t confirm this).
- Go to Settings -> Location & Security
- Uncheck “Use Wireless Networks”
- Now navigate to the Phone dialer and type: “*#*#1472365#*#*” (No quotes of course)
- When you type that you’ll be thrown into the LBSTestMode Menu
- Click the “Applications Settings” menu, than switch Operation Mode to “MS Based”
- Click back then go into “SUPL/CP Settings” and change the server to: “supl.google.com” and the server port to “7276?
- Reboot your phone
- Go back to Settings -> Location & Security
- Check “Use Wireless Networks”
Now your samsung vibrant GPS should be good to go (if Samsung notices this problem and releases a patch, I recomend changing your GPS settings back to the original settings before updating, original settings are listed below).
Original settings:
Operation Mode: Standalone
Server: www.spirent-lcs.com
Port: 7275
If Samsung is to fix this update I’ll make sure I include an update to this post with that information!
Hopefully this fixes the problem most of you have been having, and if my instructions are too difficult let me know and I’ll include a video on how to fix Samsung Vibrant GPS.
